It was one of those days when things didn’t quite go as planned. Not badly — just not how you’d hoped.
Pooh sat on the wooden bench near the firepit, watching the kettle sway gently above the flames.
Piglet shuffled over and sat beside him.
“What are we waiting for?” Piglet asked quietly.
“We’re not really waiting,” said Pooh. “We’re just letting the water remember how to boil.”
Piglet tilted his head. “Does it forget?”
“Sometimes,” Pooh said. “Just like we do. That’s why it helps to sit a while. And maybe have a cup of something warm.”
Piglet nodded. “Is the world feeling a bit… tangled today?”
“Mm-hmm,” said Pooh. “But tea — or coffee — untangles better over a fire.”
So they sat, saying nothing more. And the kettle began to sing, in that quiet way kettles do when they’re about to do something important.
